Sarah Lawrence College is seeking a temporary (approximately 10 months), full-time professional to support our transitioning Residential Life Department with several student-centered priorities – chiefly 1. Coordinating COVID-19 prevention, preparedness, and response for the entire residential community and 2. Providing substantial assistance with occupancy management and planning. Reporting to the Director of Residential Life and co-supervised by the Associate Director, this live-in position will serve on the college’s COVID Management Team and will coordinate logistics and residential care for students in quarantine and isolation, as well as support wellness programming and compliance with COVID-19 throughout campus. The incumbent is also expected to play a key role in helping Residential Life transform its housing selection and assignment processes in preparation for the 2022-23 academic year. They will co-supervise the department’s Housing Coordinator (a part-time graduate student position) and effectively liaise between them, the Associate Director, Director, and other campus stakeholders to bolster occupancy management, integrating new housing software – Adirondack Solutions, and helping to create an efficient, equitable, and friendly Housing selection and assignment process for SLC students.

This is an exempt position which necessitates a flexible work schedule and includes continuous on-call responsibilities specific to COVID-related circumstances. The number of COVID-affected cases on campus will dictate the degree of flexibility needed in working hours and days. It is expected that when/if cases are low, the Residential Life Coordinator will maintain mostly regular campus office hours (9am-5pm M-F).

  • Support and implement COVID safety directives related to residential life and student health.
  • Collaborate with Residential Life and Health & Wellness staff to address quarantine, isolation and student care needs related to COVID prevention and management.
  • Oversee essential service logistics for any students in quarantine or isolation, including but not limited to food and mail delivery/ trash and laundry collection.
  • Serve on-call to coordinate student relocation to isolation or quarantine buildings as directed by Health & Wellness Center clinicians and communicate proactively with Dean of Studies to coordinate academic work and notification for these students
  • Remain current on best practices related to COVID prevention and management in residential settings and serve as a resource to students to explain general processes, contact tracing, and COVID related information.
  • Serve as the chief point person for integrating new housing software, working directly with Adirondack Solutions to create the on-line solutions necessary to organize and improve SLC occupancy management.
  • Work with the extended Residence Life team and current residents to understand and analyze benefits and deficits of past housing selection and assignment processes and propose synthesized solutions that will streamline the department’s processes and increase student satisfaction in these processes.
  • Build positive student relationships that contribute toward deepening the student experience.
  • Proactively help build a culture of safety, respect, engagement, and responsibility.

  • Comfort working in a residential setting during pandemic and post-pandemic periods.
  • A valid state driver’s license and comfort driving college passenger vehicles as needed.
  • Experience working within residential communities.
  • Knowledge of and ability to implement and model proper use of, PPE during interactions with students in isolation and quarantine.
  • Computer and database literacy
  • Ability to competently learn and effectively utilize software technology.
  • Keen understanding of issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Strong organizational skills, relationship building skills, and communication skills.
  • Associate’s degree.

  • Occupancy management experience.
  • Experience supervising college students.
  • Experience with Jenzabar One and/or Adirondack Solutions software.
  • Experience with computer-aided design and drafting.
