This position will help create an important connection to potential WCTC students and their guests by linking them with key resources as they share their student knowledge and experience.
On a daily basis, the Welcome Center Student Assistant will engage and support students and visitors by staffing the Welcome Center, located within the College Center. This role will provide assistance to WCTC students, faculty, staff, and guests by answering questions, providing resources, and physically escorting guests to person(s) and/or place(s) on campus.
Because the Welcome Center Student Assistant plays such an important role in representing the College, they must be able to demonstrate their leadership potential, show enthusiasm, be in good academic standing, and have a desire to promote WCTC in a positive way both on and off campus.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)
The Welcome Center Student Assistant performs the following functions (not limited to):
Staff WCTC's Welcome Center and RTA Information CenterLead campus tours (scheduled and drop-in)Participate on campus panelsMaintain and organize campus resourcesOther organizational, promotional and leadership duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications
Qualify for the Financial Aid Work Study program.Be a current WCTC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits.Have at least a 2.5 GPA and commit to maintaining it during their service year.Have strong customer services skills with a focus on interpersonal communication and public speaking skills.Be engaging, positive, informative and demonstrate a willingness to go above and beyond to assist WCTC students, faculty, staff, and guests.Supplemental Information

This position has varying hours Monday - Thursday from 7:30 am - 6:30 pm and Friday from 7:30 am - 4:30 pmStudent employees may work up to a maximum of 20 hours per week.
This position is funded by the Financial Aid Work Study program. Students will be compensated for training time and hours worked at a rate of $12 per hour. Student employees are not eligible for benefits.
