Position Summary:

Governors State University seeks to fill the position of IT Support Associate II for the Information Technology Services Department. The primary focus of the IT Support Associate II may be in the areas of computer operations such as: repair, imaging, deployment, user and desktop support (hardware and software), and service desk operations. The incumbent will perform a variety of level 2 information technology support duties to ensure smooth delivery of technology services such as but not limited to computer imaging, delivery, repair and installation, printer deployment and repair, monitoring service desk ticket que, creating and resolving tickets, and others as assigned. The IT Support Associate II will monitor, operate, coordinate, assist and train others in the operation of computer hardware, software, and peripherals in order to achieve desired results. The IT Support Associate II will be required to work independently with minimal supervision and may assist in training, scheduling and distributing work of other staff members, student workers, casuals, and temporary workers. The incumbent will be required to periodically update the supervisor on the status of projects and technical issues. The IT Support Associate II will exercise judgment and creativity in selecting and applying procedures correctly, and determine when to refer problems to the supervisor or the next level of support. This position may provide information and training to students, staff, faculty, or general public on established policies and procedures, or services provided.

Starting Salary: up to $55,000.00

(This is a non-unionized position. Salary starts at the base and is determined based on Education and Experience exceeding the minimum qualifications).

Minimum Qualifications:

REQUIRED: HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENT/COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY TRANSCRIPTS, WHICH INCLUDES THE EARNED DEGREE AND CONFERRED DATE MUST BE ATTACHED FOR CONSIDERATION OF THIS POSITION (See “Special instructions to applicants” section below)

1. High school graduation or equivalent.

2. Any combination totaling one (1) year from the following categories:

A. progressively more responsible work experience in an Information Technology (IT) related profession
B. college course work which included Information Technology (IT), or a closely related discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
* 60 semester hours or Associate’s Degree equals one (1) year

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience working in a higher education environment
- CompTIA Certifications such as, A+ Certification, Network+, Security+, etc.
- Microsoft Certification such as, MCSA, MOS, MCSE, etc.
- Other Industry Certifications such as Linux, Apple/Mac, Ivanti, etc.
