Operations Assistant (Part-time) for Anatomical Donor Program, School of Medicine - Georgetown University Medical Center

With a mission to fulfill donors' final wishes and advance medical science through cadaveric study, the Anatomical Donor Program is integral to Georgetown University's medical school curriculum.

As Operations Assistant - in a part-time role - you will play a key role in providing clerical and tactical support to nurture our nation's next generation of doctors. While serving in this position, you will gain valuable experience in anatomical sciences in an unparalleled opportunity to help community members in D.C. and the surrounding area to carry out their final wishes to help advance medical education.

The Operations Assistant provides robust administrative and operational support the School of Medicine's anatomy lab and its anatomical donor program. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Operations Assistant has responsibilities that include but are not limited to:

Anatomy Lab Support
  • Turn on A/V system and connect laptops in each lab
  • Stock general lab supplies - e.g., gloves, soap, wetting solution, and cheesecloth
  • Serve as point of contact for course director/instructor needs as they arise during lab
  • Remove and store laptops in secure location, and assure orderliness - e.g., tidy space, sweep floors, wipe stainless steel surfaces, and clean sinks
  • Maintain schedule for all 6 lab rooms

Office Management
  • Answer phones and emails
  • Provide information to the general public and prospective donors
  • Manage communications to anatomical program donors, consistently maintaining confidentiality and discretion
  • Accept incoming mail from the Office of Finance & Administration
  • Manage calendars for Director
  • Coordinate with the Office of Medical Education (OME) Coordinator & Course Directors for medical student lab scheduling; as well as for neuroscience labs, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA) labs, resident labs, Georgetown Summer Medical Institute (GSMI), and Summer Medical Institutes; and for other lab requests as needed
  • Keep current inventory and supplies lists
  • Organize stock and chemicals according to regulations
  • Work with Facilities and Housekeeping to maintain working order and cleanliness of the office, labs, and morgue

Cadaver Management
  • Assist with lifting/moving cadavers
  • Assist with transport of cadavers between the morgue and gross anatomy labs
  • Remove red bag waste
  • Accept cadavers from Mortuary Partner in Supervisor's absence
  • Maintain redundant identification system & privacy of donor identities

Event Planning
  • Provide logistical event planning support for annual Donor Mass - e.g., reserving space, ordering catering, sending invitations, and coordinating with students and the Office of Student Affairs
  • Support other conferences and events as needed

  • High school diploma or equivalency required (Associate's degree or higher preferred)
  • At least 2 years of experience in customer service or client-facing role
  • Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Google Suite proficiency
  • Strong ability to work independently
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills required
  • High-level of time management skills and ability to manage shifting priorities
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds
