Job Description:

The Anita Zucker Center for Excellence in Early Childhood Studies at the University of Florida is seeking individuals to collect data for a grant-funded project. This individual will collect video data in preschool classrooms and in young children’s homes, in addition to supporting the collection of forms and surveys from research participants. The position requires flexibility to travel to schools and homes during times when children engage in typical classroom or home activities and routines. This is a part-time position that is grant-funded and time-limited. The expected hours for this position are up to 25 hours per week during data collection periods. These hours may be scheduled Monday – Sunday between 6:00 am and 8:00 pm, depending on research participant schedules. The hourly commitment is dependent on the number of days of availability each week. The approximate number of hours needed per day is 3-5. Tentative data collection periods are scheduled from 8/29/21-11/1/21 and from 3/15/21-5/30/21.

Responsibilities:

  • Travel to and from schools and research participants’ homes.
  • Attend required trainings at UF, which will include:
  • Video taping procedures for project measures
  • Operation of video equipment
  • Video processing procedures
  • Video tape in classrooms for 1-4 hours, depending on classroom schedule
  • Video tape in children’s home for 1-2 hours, depending on the family’s schedule
  • Process video according to UF procedures:
  • Log videotaped activities as indicated in training
  • Scan video logs and upload to secure UF server after each video session
  • Upload videos to secure UF server after each video session
  • Work with Project Coordinator to ensure video SD cards and video logs are returned to UF each week
  • Expected Salary:

    Hourly rate is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

    Minimum Requirements:
    • Valid Florida drivers’ license
    • Access to transportation
    • Computer access
    • Criminal background check
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Previous experience in preschool classrooms or working with young children and their families
    • Demonstrated ability to operate required computer and video technology (Video camera, bluetooth microphone, scanner)
    • Demonstrated ability to upload electronic documents and video files
