Position Summary

Our programs and technologies are ever-evolving to meet ever-changing needs; our high level of service and support is constant.” Global Campus serves as a principal University liaison with the greater San Diego community and provides a wide variety of traditional and nontraditional, credit and noncredit educational experiences designed to fit the lifestyle and expectations of working adults and other lifelong learners. In addition, Global Campus provides a range of academic and special programs for individuals and groups at various times, in various locations, and via various modalities, including technology-based programs -- throughout the year. Global Campus’s primary audiences include returning adult learners such as degree completers, workforce, military, and international learners.

Under the supervision of the Associate Dean of Finance & Operations, the Director of Finance and Accounting has the responsibility of working with the Deans, Programs Directors, Business and Financial Affairs in ensuring the accuracy of the financial statements, budgets, reporting, and the integrity of the financial systems for Global Campus. This position will manage a team of accountants and financial analysts to plan, organize, and direct Global Campus budgetary and accounting activities. Prepare comparative evaluation of actual costs against budgeted funds. Estimate future costs and expenditures. Prepare financial plans and reports. Maintain historical records, analyze trends, and establish budgetary forecast. Recommend and interpret budgetary policies and procedures. This position is responsible for records, transactions, controls, and reports related to Global Campus University Budget Funds (various ORACLE accounts), as well as the Global Campus Foundation Budget Funds (various BANNER accounts). The Director of Finance and Accounting supports the mission of Global Campus Finance and Accounting by preparing various analytical reports, and reviewing the general ledgers and subsidiary ledgers required to meet the Financial Accounting Guidelines (which are in accordance with GAAP for not-for-profit, GASB- guided organizations) with accuracy and timeliness for the funds indicated above and with maintaining the integrity of all financial records.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • Six years of experience in a complex budget planning and reporting or financial management
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle, Banner/PI Profile, EARS
  • Two years of direct managerial experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree
  • Current Certified Public Accountant license
  • Expertise and experience in applying accounting standards for an institution of higher education

    SDSU COVID-19 Vaccine Policy

    In accordance with the California State University systemwide policy, the COVID-19 vaccine will be required for all students, faculty, and staff in order to access campus. An individual is considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second dose of a two-shot vaccine or two weeks after the first dose of a single-shot vaccine.

    The individual hired into this role will be required to submit their completed vaccination documentation to the university’s secure online health portal prior to beginning work. Individuals with an approved medical or religious exemption on file with the university will be required to complete regular COVID-19 testing.
