Description of Position

Our Small Business Development Center is looking for a bilingual (English and Spanish)
business analyst who is passionate about advancing the success of a diverse group of
business owners in Yavapai County. The ideal candidate has prior experience consulting with
small business operators to identify solutions to challenging issues. Provides business
coaching and training and serves as a resource for small businesses. Assists in identifying
opportunities for seminars, workshops and other initiatives that support business owners and
managers. Performs professional level work for the Small Business Development Center
(SBDC) that is predominantly original and creative in nature. Community contacts include
members and staff of small business organizations, community-based organizations, private
sector business services providers, financial institutions, and with owners and prospective
owners of small businesses.
This position is casual part-time (19 hours per week), grant-funded, and contingent on
continued funding from grant source. Requires travel within Yavapai County.
Job Responsibilities
Consults predominantly with Spanish-speaking small business owners and prospective
owners who are Small Business Development Center clients
Gathers comprehensive information about business operations through effective
interviewing techniques
Conducts independent research to supplement information gathered directly from
SBDC clients
Analyzes information gathered to formulate specific recommendations to enhance the
success of client businesses
Prepares written summaries of information, analysis and recommended actions
Conducts training and coaching in Spanish and in English and assists in the
development and promotion of workshops
Develops assessments and alternative recommended actions to client businesses
Tracks progress of clients in achieving agreed upon goals for business coaching
undertaken
Analyzes small business operations and opportunities utilizing data and metrics in
conjunction with computer modeling and other programs
Promotes and markets SBDC services in the community
Follows Policies and Procedures for SBDC, Arizona SBDC Network and host

Collaborates with other SBDC team members and contributes by bringing ideas drawn
from past cultural experiences
Uses standard office equipment and computers
Other related duties as assigned

Minimum Expectations & Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field
- Three years' related work experience
- Written and verbal fluency in Spanish and English with the ability to read, write and present
topics in a way which makes it a comfortable atmosphere for clients and demonstrates an
understanding of the culture behind the language
- Prior experience owning a small business
- Any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge
and abilities in:
Business Planning, Strategic Planning and Business Plan Development
Financial Analysis and Accounting
Business lending experience
Digital and Traditional Marketing
Communication and Presentation skills
Consulting and Coaching Techniques
Small business ownership or management experience
- Valid Drivers' License with a good driving record (or ability to obtain)
- Willingness and ability to travel to multiple locations throughout Yavapai County
- Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends
- Ability to work independently and adapt in a changing workplace
- Analytical skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Spanish and English
- Demonstrated Public Relations and Customer Service skills
- Demonstrated leadership and project management skills
- Ability to work with diverse populations
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information
