Clinical Research Coordinator, Survey Recruitment and Biospecimen Collection Shared Resource - Georgetown University Medical Center

Georgetown University Medical Center's Survey, Recruitment, and Biospecimen Collection Shared Resource (SRBSR) Services provide advice and consultation services on most of the components of study implementation. SRBSR can assess the number of available cases, the feasibility of accrual, and biospecimen availability as part of planning new applications. SRBSR also consults investigators survey design, measures for use in patient surveys, subject tracking and data management, and regulatory issues. The SRBSR advises investigators on the choice of available, validated survey instruments and items for capturing patient-reported health data based on the objectives of each study.

The Clinical Research Coordinator serves as a primary research coordinator for activities related to the Nontherapeutic Studies (NTSR) SRBSR Services, recruiting patients to the NTSR Institutional Review Board (IRB)-approved protocol, the Georgetown MedStar Research Registry (GMR2), and any other IRB approved protocols administered by the NTSR. Reporting directly to the Director of Operations (DOO), with final oversight as needed provided by the two Co-Directors, the Clinical Research Coordinator has duties that include not are not limited to:

Patient interactions
  • Recruitment and consent activities
  • Administration of study related questionnaires
  • Biospecimen acquisition and delivery
  • Patient triage and follow-up


Study-related activities
  • Screening schedules for eligible candidates and triaging patients into related studies
  • Data entry and record maintenance
  • Fulfilling data requests and reports as requested by SRBSR DOO or Directors


Coordination with all internal and external entities involved in study-related activities


Administrative duties as directed by the DOO
  • Review and update of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for protocols
  • Generation of data queries
  • Assistance with preparation of training and presentation materials - e.g., slides, flyers


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 2 years of experience in clinical research
  • Experience with interactive databases, Microsoft, and EHR systems
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, and analytical abilities


Preferred qualification

Phlebotomy experience
