Job Details

The Division of Student Affairs at the University of North Alabama is accepting applications for the position of Associate Vice President/Dean of Students.  This position provides leadership, oversight, and assistance with division-wide planning initiatives as assigned by the Vice President, including but not limited to, strategic planning, diversity and inclusion, assessment, student retention, co-curricular learning, student engagement, and the implementation of best practices for the overall student experience.  This position includes direct oversight of the departments of Housing & Residence Life, Student Conduct, the Campus Assistance, Referral, and Evaluation (CARE) Team, University case management, and the resolution of student complaints. Additional responsibilities include oversight of the Guillot University Center (GUC) operations and campus-wide event reservation system. 

Minimum qualifications for this position include: Master’s degree in higher education administration, leadership, college student personnel, education, or a closely-related field is required; Doctorate in higher education administration, leadership, college student personnel, education, or a closely-related field is preferred; Minimum of eight full-time years of progressive experience in higher education; Minimum of five full-time years of experience in college student affairs, including student conduct, and housing/residence life is required; Professional staff development and supervision experience, required; Experience with crisis management, higher education strategic planning, budget oversight, and policy/procedure development is preferred; and current, active participation in professional organizations relating to higher education, preferred.

Established in 1830 as LaGrange College, the University of North Alabama has a rich history including the distinction of being the first state-supported teachers college in the South. The school's 130-acre campus is located in the historic district of Florence, Alabama, on the Tennessee River. Students come from around the country and world, but UNA is largely a regional university with about 70% of students coming from Alabama.
