Part Time - Chemical Hygiene & Safety Coordinator for Faculty & Students

Job Description:

Good knowledge and understanding of OSHA regulations, EPA and NFPA standards, under supervision and with moderate discretion for independent judgment performs tasks in support of the College’s Environmental Health & Safety program, this is an 8 hour a week on site position, with potential for additional hours.

Essential Duties Summary:

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (BUT NOT LIMITED TO):

  • Deliver and help prepare EHS Training to Students, Faculty and Staff as needed – Universal Safety Guidelines, Metal Shop Safety and Silica Hazards” Wood Shop, Metal Shop, Ceramics and Sculpting Hazards.
  • Assisting in inspecting the campus in identifying safety, health and environmental risks for annual review and evaluation of the effectiveness of the hazardous chemical waste management and minimization plan.
  • Assist in developing inspection policies, update current procedures and schedule routine inspections.
  • Be an Active member of the Chemical Hygiene Committee.
  • Assist in ensuring the Material Safety Data sheets are maintained and readily accessible.
  • Assist in Completion of the Annual Campus-wide Chemical Inventory.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned by the Associate Directors or Director.


Required Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE (BUT NOT LIMITED TO):

  • Training in Occupational Safety and Environmental Compliance related fields
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations is a plus Minimum 1 year of experience in a Safety Specialist or Environmental Specialist related role or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Experience operating on a Campus setting a Plus.
  • Able to follow instructions and complete assigned tasks in an unsupervised manner.
  • Ability to work independently, but a strong effective team player mentality is necessary.
  • Good judgment and decision-making skills; Lead by example. Must have reliable attendance, & work well with others.
  • Possesses a valid New York State Driver’s License and ability to drive Sarah Lawrence Vehicles.
  • Ability to lift and Carry 20lbs.
  • Ability to work well with diverse populations; and demonstrated level of inter-cultural competence.
