Job Details
A.T. Still University's Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM) is seeking an Executive Director, Still OPTI. The position reports to the Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the department for the Advancement of Osteopathic Education, the National Center for Osteopathic Principles and Practice Education (NCOPPE), and Still OPTI. The Executive Director (ED) along with the Associate Dean for GME, serve as staff to all department functions (institutional sponsor, accreditation, osteopathic recognition, curriculum/assessment, professional development, scholarly work, and new GME development support). The ED operationalizes key NCOPPE and Still OPTI strategies to support and promote osteopathic education across the UMEGME-CME continuum, meets the needs of affiliate and institutional members, and exceeds the accreditation standards set forth by AOA, COCA and ACGME. The ED assists members with maintaining compliance with ACGME requirements, AOA and specialty college standards, inspections, marketing/recruitment, delivering professional development, and educational resources. The ED provides direct training, leads
recruitment of newly affiliate and institutional programs, and develops business proposals. The ED must interact with and educate program directors, directors of osteopathic education, faculty, coordinators, and trainees via personal visits, video conferencing, phone, and e-mail. ED must prepare, submit, and monitor the annual budget. The ED must oversee and ensure proper implementation of all activity related to Still OPTI committees, annual membership meetings, accreditation site visits, conferences, marketing events (including the design and/or selection of promotional materials), participation in members’ accreditation inspections and preparation for Still OPTI’s sponsoring institution inspections. The ED is responsible for
completing the Annual Institution Review (ACGME), self-study reports, board reports, special review reports, and other correspondence from the department.
Major Job Duties
- Assist in design, execution, and assessment of the department’s strategic priorities for NCOPPE and Still OPTI.
- Manage and sustain affiliate and institutional member relations and lead recruitment in new members.
- Develop and manage annual budget, business plans, and other proposals.
- Provide staff support for department initiatives.
- Work with ATSU General Counsel to ensure affiliation agreements are current, accurate, and compliant with ATSU policies annually.
- Lead the design and implementation of policies, procedures, methodologies, and assessment tools to ensure substantial compliance for affiliated members’ ACGME and AOA accreditation.
- Support and coordinate initiatives in Osteopathic Recognition for current and future partners.
- Participate in and demonstrate medical education scholarship.
- Provide quality professional development meetings and materials.
- Build and fortify new GME relationships and other professional relationships across the ACGME, specialty colleges, AOA, ACOM, students and other staff.
- Assist in the development and implementation of newly accredited GME programs and osteopathic recognition programs.
- Provide leadership and direction to members, and to the department for the Advancement of Osteopathic Education’s staff, the Administrative Assistant and Institutional Accreditation and Data Coordinator.
- Offer support to the Associate Dean for GME and DIO.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, education, or other healthcare-related major required
- College plus postgraduate studies/advanced degree highly desired
- Must have prior experience in all aspects of management, small business operations, preferably healthcare management, higher education, or similar business role
- Must have knowledge of quality improvement methodologies
- Experience with marketing and development of marketing materials is a plus
