Job Details:Information Security Analyst Coastal Carolina University is currently accepting applications for the following position: Information Security Analyst in the Office of Information Technology Services. This position is responsible for assisting University units in evaluating their IT environment, recommending & implementing security measures and practices that comply with University policies & standards, and safeguard University information assets. This position collaborates closely with ITS units to enhance University information security posture related to systems, processes and services. This position works on tasks of a low to medium complexity with some supervision required. The position is responsible for performing procedures and providing technical solutions that serve to provide appropriate access to and protect systems from intentional or inadvertent access or destruction. Duties will include, but are not limited to: assist with the implementation and monitoring of all information security, risk, and privacy activities; work with users to achieve security objectives and address identified risks while implementing measures and controls in alignment with University policies, state and federal regulations, as well as other pertinent regulations, guidelines, and frameworks like GDPR, PCI DSS, and NIST; monitor, review, and respond to alerts and notifications in a timely manner, including after normal work hours; assisting with developing and validating baseline security configurations for operating systems, applications, networking, and telecommunications equipment; assist with carrying out procedures to ensure that all systems, products, and services meet University security standards; assist in the development, preparation, and presentation of technical documentation (designs, specifications, processes, workflows) and communications; training materials; web content; and campus/ITS alerts and notifications; assist with performing security risk and vulnerability assessments for computing and networking systems; assist with the analysis and development of security plans for various systems; assist various units with identifying and addressing information security risk assessments; assist with information security training and awareness programs; recommend solutions; translate security requirements into functional specifications; assist supervisor and other ITS units with improving operational procedures, processes and standards as well as change management procedures in alignment and collaboration with ITS goals and objectives to advance the University mission; manage and utilize University/ITS/individual resources and time effectively to accomplish tasks and projects; ensure and maintain information security and confidentiality; and perform other duties as assigned. Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in information technology systems, computer science or a related field and experience in information technology systems or a related area are required. Relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis. Certifications in information security are desired. Certification such as Association of (ISC)2, GIAC, or agreed upon equivalent is expected to be accomplished within the first three years of employment. Experience with incident response, security monitoring, data loss prevention, implementing security controls, administering vendor supplied security software, risk assessment, security and privacy compliance, and/or participating on disaster recovery planning team are preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Demonstrated knowledge of network environment to include routing, TCP/IP, internet technologies, network security/firewalls. Demonstrated knowledge of Office 365 security features. Knowledge of major application solutions, operating systems, and network architecture. Knowledge of security administration for various operating systems and software. Knowledge of information security technologies and issues such as security architecture, disaster recovery, encryption standards, industry standards for network security monitoring and instruction response, nature and sources of network security threats and methodologies/technical requirements for devising solutions. Ability to write detailed technical documentation on security procedures. Analytical and problem solving skills. Knowledge of information risks concepts and principles as a means of relating business needs and security controls. Ability to communicate with audiences with varying levels of technical knowledge. Basic knowledge of project management.
