Job Title:         College Nurse Practitioner 

Reports To:     Director of Health Services

Status:              Non-exempt, Part Time – 15 hours/week, 10 months/year

 

The Part-time Nurse Practitioner is a member of the Health and Wellness Center staff in Health Services and reports to the Assistant Director and Director of Health Services.  The duties and responsibilities consist of providing comprehensive health assessment, diagnosis and treatment of common health problems of students within the guidelines of departmental and college rules, New York State, and established protocols. Emphasis on the prevention of illness, promotion of health, and development of health maintenance.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Provide comprehensive health assessment, diagnosis and treatment of common physical and psychosocial health problems of college students.
  2. Provide well defined and specific health care to students, making referrals as necessary.
  3. Provide immunizations and administers medications and treatments as required.
  4. Provide physical and psychosocial examinations of students.
  5. Prescribe, dispense, or recommend prescriptions for medication and other treatments.
  6. Consult with other Wellness professionals and follows through with referrals and appropriate documentation.
  7. Supervise the process of health profiles for incoming students.
  8. Follow up with students following medical transports.
  9. Collaborate with Wellness Center staff to develop policies and procedures for student health.
  10. Perform testing, i.e. rapid strep, COVID, mono spot and urinalysis, etc. 
  11. To assume additional duties which may be assigned by the Assistant Director and Director.

Requirements

  • New York State Licensure as Registered Professional Nurse with current registration in good standing
  • Current New York State Licensure as Nurse Practitioner; national accreditation required
  • 3 years’ experience as a Nurse Practitioner required
  • School or College Health, or similar experience preferred
  • Valid BLS Certification
  • Organization

The Mount is also easily accessible by plane, with Stewart Airport just minutes from campus.     Enrollment/Student Body Profile. Our student body is made up of 2,700+ students representing over 16 states and several countries. 1,800 are traditional undergraduate students.

    Academic Programs. The Mount offers 50 undergraduate programs leading to a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree. Our collaboration programs offer you a chance to earn a bachelor's degree, plus an advanced degree with schools like Fordham University, Pace University, and New York Medical College. The college also offers master's degrees in education, business, and nursing.
