History of Science/Technology/Medicine in Modern Japan
The Department of the History and Sociology of Science at the University of Pennsylvania seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in historical or social studies (including science and technology studies) of science, technology or medicine in modern Japan. The department has a thriving PhD program, two important and successful undergraduate majors, and an excellent track record placing our graduates. Penn is also home to a vibrant Center for East Asian Studies and graduate program in East Asian humanities and the social sciences. Strong candidates will have a promising research trajectory and a teaching portfolio relevant to our departmental priorities. This full time, permanent position is supported in part by a Japan Foundation Institutional Project Support (IPS) grant.

The appointment will begin on July 1, 2022, by which time the successful candidate is expected to have completed their PhD.
