This is a senior research position that performs sophisticated research experiments outlined in the PI's research grant/s; assists with planning scientific research activity, objectives, budget, and other requirements and specifications related to the research; measures the outcome of research processes, prepares reports, develops presentations and graphs for further analysis, and discusses findings and analysis with scholars and professors in the university, as well as with researchers at other universities, and helps undergraduate and graduate students with research projects and other experiments that they choose to perform for learning purposes.

Responsibilties

The duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs complex data analysis related to producing research results and preparing findings for future development; work toward the submission and attainment of extramural grants on independent research topics.
  • Publication of 1-2 first author papers a year. Present research findings at 1-2 national scientific meetings.

Required Qualifications

A doctoral degree in Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, or PhD in Biological Sciences from an accredited college or university.  Must be able to communicate effectively in English. Touch/manual dexterity and memory for detail are critical to performing job functions.Postdoctoral experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications

A strong background in molecular biology, physiology and cell biology as it relates to coronary and microvascular disease and microvascular brain injury.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Ability to work independently with only general supervision; ability to work with animal models; ability to troubleshoot problems independently, and ability to multi-task.
  • Good oral and written communication skills. Background in biology, chemistry and/or biochemistry; extensive experience in a research laboratory setting to include conducting complex experiments and data analysis; excellent organizational and budgetary skills; detail oriented.

Shift/Salary

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
