Shift: TBD Nights and Weekends required
Salary: $4,000.00 Stipend

General Statement of Duties:
Westfield State University has an immediate opening for assistant part-time women's swimming and diving coach. Experience in collegiate or high school coaching is preferred, as well as an understanding of a competitive NCAA Division III program. The assistant coach will provide administrative, instructional, and recruiting support services under the direction and supervision of the Head Coach.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties include but not limited to:
Essential:
  • The primary duty will be to assist in coaching the women's varsity swimming & diving team.
  • Duties will include working with the head coach to develop and assist and supervise in water practices for individuals and groups as assigned.
  • The Assistant Coach will develop and/or supervise dry-land workouts as directed.
  • The Assistant Coach will provide on deck coaching including race analysis and stroke feedback during competition.
  • The Assistant Coach will assist with recruiting as directed by the head coach.
  • The Assistant Coach will assist with the management of team travel and meal coordination.
  • The Assistant Coach will promote a culture of health, well-being, and safety in all aspects of the team.
  • The dates of final coaching responsibilities are determined by post-season tournament competition.
  • The Assistant Coach will have an opportunity to travel with the team to Florida in January.
  • The Assistant Coach will drive a team van on occasion.
  • Knowledge of Hy-Tek Software and running Meet Manager and Team Manager is preferred.
  • The duties and responsibilities are based on a yearly length of service and are renewable at the discretion of the Director of Athletics.
  • All Departmental, Conference and NCAA rules and regulations will be followed.
  • All compensation shall be based upon hours actually worked as recorded on weekly time sheets throughout the entire year.
  • All Assistant Coaches are required to be CPR/AED, First Aid Certified and certification opportunities exist annually within the Athletics Department



Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A high level of competency in women's swimming and diving skill instruction.
  • An understanding of the role of intercollegiate athletics.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with student-athletes and staff.
  • Valid Driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Three to four years of experience as a collegiate swimmer/diver.
  • One to three years of experience coaching at the high school or college level.
