    The Assistant Professor in Elementary Education will teach, advise, and supervise undergraduate students majoring in Elementary Education. A background and experience in pedagogy is preferable. The selected candidate is expected to serve on various departmental, college, and university level committees, and engage in research/services. The position is tenure-track or tenured depending on qualifications.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Teaching undergraduate/graduate students in Elementary Education courses
    • Supervising student teachers and practicum candidates
    • Serving on departmental, college, and institutional committees
    • Engaging in scholarly activities, attending and presenting at professional conferences, and performing service projects
    • Working collaboratively with P-12 school community
    • Preparing accreditation reports as needed
    • Reviewing and plan curricula
    • Attending university functions and meetings
    • Completing other duties as assigned
    Qualifications

  • Earned Master of Education degree (minimum of 18 graduate hours in discipline)
    • Experience teaching in a traditional classroom setting
    • Documented ability to teach, advise, and supervise field-based programs
    • Documented ability to infuse technology in teaching
    • Documented ability to foster relationships with colleagues and students.
    • Documented ability of written and verbal communication skills
    Working conditions

    • Travel required – Travel is required on a limited basis; visiting placement sites, workshops, etc.
    • Evening/night/weekend work – limited to university functions
    • Working outdoors – no
    • Climate controlled environment-yes
    Physical requirements

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
