Job Summary
Columbus State University has an opening for an Academic Support Assistant in the Office of the Provost. This professional position works under the CSU Principal Investigator / Program Manager of a National Science Foundation Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP) Program award. Work involves assisting in the operational aspect of the LSAMP Program at CSU and coordinating with LSAMP partner institutions on the behalf of the Alliance. This position will also assist with recruitment, annual progress reports which includes collecting and filing bi-monthly progress reports of LSAMP Alliance program members. This position requires exercising considerable judgment and knowledge in the support of underrepresented minority students. This position is funded by a grant award from the National Science Foundation Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation Program.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting the Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator/Program Director and LSAMP Coordinator with clerical duties related to CSU LSAMP Program activities (i.e. recruitment, student and faculty training/workshops and research symposiums, monitoring budgets, time sheets, ordering
supplies, travel arrangements and requisitions, maintaining confidential scholar and program files, processing reimbursement requests for payment, maintaining financial files and other project related duties as assigned); directing students to the appropriate support when needed; working collaboratively with other offices to serve student needs, including but not limited to the Office of Diversity Programs and Services, Enrollment Services (Admissions, Registrar, and Recruitment), Office of Sponsored Programs, Academic Center for Excellence (ACE), Center for Career Development, the Counseling Center, the Office of Disability Services, and campus tutorial services; monitoring and directing calls to appropriate personnel; general administrative and clerical support including mailing, scanning, faxing and copying files; assisting the Principal Investigator, Co-Principal Investigator/Program Director and LSAMP Coordinator in maintaining records of policies and procedures for the LSAMP Program; and assisting in the monitoring and submission of Alliance and sub-award budgets related to their implementation of the LSAMP Program to the Office of Sponsored Programs.

Required Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and two or more years of academic administrative support experience; and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate must have experience in working with underrepresented minorities; demonstrated excellent and effective communication skills (both writing and verbal); excellent customer service and organizational skills; demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook) and standard office equipment; experience with external grant and contract management; demonstrated ability to work with complex projects including data reporting; and knowledge of accounting practices and procedures.

Proposed Salary
The annualized salary range for this position is $31,352 - $33,280 and includes full benefits. This position is funded by a grant award from the National Science Foundation Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation Program and will be held as long as funding is available.
