Job Summary
The Columbus State University Library has an opening for a Cataloging Assistant. This position performs technical and specialized tasks invovling copy cataloging, maintaining the online catalog, database maintenance, and assisting in resolving cataloging problems.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to performing all aspects of copy cataloging and complex copy cataloging, including importing bibliographic records, adding library holdings, and editing records; performing physical processing of newly-cataloged materials, including tattle tape, labeling, barcoding, and NS jacketing; handling all aspects of the deaccessioning process; handling all aspects of added copies or volumes; maintaining copy cataloging and withdrawing statistics; updating procedures manual when applicable; and all other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience; knowledge of the principles and procedures of professional library work including methods, practices, and techniques of library copy cataloging, complex copy cataloging and classification; working knowledge of integrated library systems, bibliographic utilities, and library networking practices and standards; working knowledge of MARC 21, as well as cataloging and metadata standards, such as AACR2, RDA, and BibFrame; and familiarity with cataloging practices for archival materials, electronic equipment, and assorted realia.

The successful candidate must also have considerable initiative, independent judgement, and significant attention to detail; effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; the ability to set priorities and complete tasks in a timely manner; the ability to work well with co-workers, students, and faculty; the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment; the ability to work flexibly, energetically, and creatively in a busy, changing environment; and be proficient in using technology.

Proposed Salary
The annualized salary range for this position is $24,882 - $27,993 and includes full benefits.
