The Office of the Associate Vice Chancellor of Finance & Administration at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, invites applications for a full-time Conflict of Interest Compliance Manager. This position is responsible for the daily management of the conflict of interest program. Conflict of interest compliance fulfills obligations under laws, regulations, and policies. The COI Compliance Manager will develop an annual work plan to ensure consistent and efficient operations of the conflicts of interest process. The position will collaborate with the Research Compliance team, Human Resources and the Office of the Provost to manage potential conflicts.


Minimum Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related business area and 5-7 years of experience in the accounting or business administration field
  • Professional certification is required: Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Public Accountant or other compliance related certification
  • Professional experience providing audit or compliance services within higher education
  • Experience performing risk assessments
  • Knowledge of faculty appointment structure and allowable external activities
  • Knowledge and skills to work in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to create and deliver quality training and the ability to explain complex or technical rules, policies or corrective actions to a diverse audience.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service, over the phone and in person answering questions regarding status of requests, policies and procedures.
  • Strong problem solving, management, planning, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to be an independent thinker with professional skepticism.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of faculty, staff, administrators, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to conceptualize, plan and organize multiple assignments effectively to meet changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge and skills to work in Microsoft Office

Preference will be given to individuals with professional experience addressing conflicts of interest for universities, academic medical centers, or research administration. Knowledge of University of Tennessee policies and procedures is also preferred.
