Job Description:

Saybrook University is seeking an Administrative Assistant to join its Center for Writing and Academic Success. Under the direction of the Director of the Center for Writing and Academic Success, the Administrative Assistant is responsible for assisting the Director and Assistant Director in communications and clerical duties relating to the operation of the writing center.

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Creating and maintaining social media for the writing center.
  • Drafting monthly (or bi-monthly) infographics to be emailed to students.
  • Creating promotional materials for events and resources provided by the writing center.
  • Managing the writing center inbox when full time staff are unavailable.
  • Maintaining spreadsheets and other internal documents.
  • Contacting students via e-mail and telephone.
  • Reviewing and managing online resources and webpages owned by the writing center.
  • Assisting the Director and Assistant Director in utilizing WC Online, the writing center's appointment management system.
  • Participation in weekly team meetings with writing center staff.
  • Performing other potential administrative duties required by the Director.
This position will use technology such as e-mail, peer-to-peer video platforms, and learning management systems. Answering phones/e-mail, other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Administrative Assistant must have competent college-level reading comprehension and writing skills.
  • Student must be eligible for FWS.

Position Qualifications:

  • Prior clerical experience and experience working remotely.
  • Experience in marketing and/or social media.

Physical Requirements:

The position requires regular access to the internet in order to check and respond to e-mail, update spreadsheets in the cloud, and review online content related to the work of the writing center. The position also requires communication with staff over peer-to-peer platforms such as Zoom and Skype, as well as hours of typing and reading each week.
