Anticipated Start Date:
Within the academic area of the college, performs the duties of a full-time faculty member. Including developing course compendia and reading lists and participating in departmental responsibilities in the selection of textbooks and related teaching resources; maintaining scheduled office hours for the purpose of student-faculty contact as it relates to classroom/laboratory instruction; meeting with students for the purpose of academic advisement and maintaining accurate student records.
Incumbents must possess a proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and student. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
Master’s degree in Microbiology or other laboratory-based biological disciplines.
The successful candidate must have experience, knowledge, and abilities in the following:
- Two (2) years of teaching experience as the instructor of record (48 credits) at the postsecondary level.

- Four (4) years of Biology teaching experience, including Microbiology laboratory instruction at a community college.
- Experience utilizing an online Learning Management System such as Blackboard.
- Experience using educational technologies with experience teaching, on-ground and online courses at the post-secondary level.
- Experience with accreditation processes.
- Experience with learning outcomes assessment.
- Experience in Curriculum development.
Example of Job Duties:
Under the direction of the Dean of Academic Affairs, this Instructor is expected to teach thirty (30) credit hours per academic year and will be responsible for teaching both laboratory and non-laboratory based biology courses. Course areas include microbiology and general biology, with the potential for teaching in other areas of expertise. Participate in discipline, department, and college meetings, develop curriculum and participate in program and NECHE reviews and assessment at the course, program, and graduation levels. Duties may include K-12 collaboration, community outreach, and other service activities consistent with the mission of the college. Provide academic advising and assist in recruitment and retention of students. The teaching schedule may include both day and evening classes.
In addition to the accountabilities listed above, the incumbent is required to carry out the essential duties of Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies; Service on assigned committees and task forces; Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational and professional meetings. These may involve attendance at evening or weekend events.

$59,528 approximate annual plus excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits.
