The Upward Bound Lead Teacher Advisor will be responsible for the supervision of Upward Bound Teacher Advisors. The Lead Teacher Advisor assists the administrative and instructional staff in implementing and delivering student services to the cohort of students in the grant program to facilitate academic, cultural, and social enrichment activities. This position is designed to provide mentoring services to the Waterbury Public Schools grant cohort participants during the school day as well as in after-school programs in Math, English, and Science. Incumbents must possess a proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and student. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriately related field with two (2) to four (4) years of experience; or a combination of education, training, and experience which would lead to the competencies required for the successful performance of the position’s essential duties.

Bilingual in Spanish and or Albanian
- One (1) to three (3) years of experience with middle and or high school students in a diverse environment: experience with school counseling, community work, or social agencies.

Under the direction of the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and the Upward Bound Site Coordinator, The Upward Bound Lead Teacher Advisor is responsible for the following duties:
General management of the day-to-day activities of grant operations, including oversight of the development and maintenance of a system for student records and tracking dataPlanning and implementing relevant workshops and field tripsCollaboration and communication with Waterbury Public School staff and administratorsCollaboration and Communication with Site Coordinator and Teacher AdvisorsCollaboration with content area teachers and Guidance DepartmentCoordinate/Conduct individual and small group mentoring sessions throughout the dayManaging and scheduling teacher advisors, tutors, and student assistantsOversight of data input, review, and analysis of items such as daily and weekly logs of mentoring sessions with student names and objectivesConduct weekly meetings with Teacher AdvisorsAttend weekly meetings with Site CoordinatorsConduct professional development for Teacher AdvisorsAssist Upward Bound Parent/Community Liaison.
