Posting Summary

Lead efforts to develop leadership capacity of students of color at the University of Vermont.  Develop and implement culturally sensitive trainings, mentor student leaders, network with university resource, facilitate new student led initiatives, and support student club advisors. Convene, facilitate and assess the Mosaic Center for Students of Color (MCSC) institutionalized programming which may include: Racial Aikido; Brotherhood; Sisterhood Circle; Community Meeting. Provide holistic (academic, cultural, personal) advising and support students by connecting them to campus partners. Create and administer a professional development curriculum for MCSC work-study students. Co-supervise work study students with Office Manager. Collaborate with university partners on behalf of student of color success. Advocate for student cultural needs and represent student interests on university work groups and committees. Respond to requests for and support the development of MCSC presentations, trainings and representation. Support the creation of a collaborative, creative, culturally intelligent office culture. Reports to the Director of the Mosaic Center for Students of Color.

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

Bachelor’s degree in Student Affairs, Psychology, Education, Social Work or higher education related field and one to three years’ experience required. Demonstrated understanding of the experience of racially and/or ethnically diverse people and communities required. Experience with counseling, advising and/or teaching individuals and student groups required. Effective organizational and communication skills (oral, written) skills required. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, social justice issues, and fostering a collaborative, multicultural environment required. Experience working with a diverse range of college students and/or young adults as well as the public required. 

Desirable Qualifications

Experience in Student Affairs highly desirable.
