Head Strength & Conditioning Coach

Job Description:

As part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University seeks a qualified, highly energetic and ambitious Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach promotes Marian University’s Catholic Franciscan Mission and Identity by providing leadership, management, and strategic planning for the strength and conditioning program. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity, leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies.
  • Report to the Athletic Director
  • Supervise strength and conditioning staff and sport-specific program planning for all athletic sports
  • Develop and assess long and short-term goals for individual athletes and teams, communicate program planning with head coaches, establish training schedules, supervise sport specific workouts, design programs for year-round speed development, agility, and flexibility
  • Direct all pre-season, in season, post season, and summer strength and conditioning programs in accordance with NAIA bylaws and procedures. Instruct student-athletes in proper training techniques, speed development, plyometrics, and assist with injury rehabilitation and recovery methods
  • Assist in department education of nutrition and banned substances
  • Organize and analyze physical performance testing
  • Lead and motivate student-athletes to maximize their potential
  • Remain current on all trends, methods, and innovations related to strength and conditioning
  • Be present and punctual for all workouts with student athletes
  • Maintain up-to-date records on the strength program of each team and specific records on the strength program of each team and specific individual workouts of every student-athlete
  • Assist in community relations and is responsible for raising funds throughout the school year for the athletic program
  • Other duties may be assigned by the athletic director

  • Knowledge of and a commitment to the mission of Marian University
  • An earned bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and at least two years of experience.
