About the Department:

In what we teach, in the research and development we engage, and in the service learning,
extension, and outreach we provide, NC State University landscape architecture emphasizes
evidence-based inquiry and design thinking that prepares students for current practice as well
as leadership in the dynamic and transformative profession of the future.

The Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning program delivers core and advanced
design studios, seminars, and free electives that expose students to multiple learning
experiences in the Research Triangle Region and communities in South East. The curriculum
provides students with the capacity to create innovative, sustainable solutions focused on
human and ecosystem health, social equity, and quality of life. These include the transformative
issues associated with: adaptation to climate change; increasing or decreasing population shifts
and resultant impacts on transportation, water and energy supply and consumption,
transportation systems and land use; place-making; and the promotion of environmental justice;
and social wellbeing.

We prepare students to enter the profession of landscape architecture as it is currently
practiced, and, by virtue of our emphasis on evidence-based inquiry and design thinking, to
engage, and participate in propelling the profession into the future as it changes and develops in
response to environmental changes and societal imperatives. We expect graduates to apply
their talents to advance the knowledge and capabilities of the profession and to be competent,
entrepreneurial, and competitive in the job market and within their communities.

Essential Job Duties:

The Department of Landscape Architecture is accepting applications for part-time non-tenure-track faculty appointments for a one-semester or one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal. Rank to be determined based upon education and professional experience.

Specific teaching opportunities include landscape architecture studios at all levels, including advanced comprehensive studios and/or seminar courses.

Applications will be reviewed as these part-time non-tenure track teaching opportunities arise.

Other Responsibilities:

Appointments may be available for Summer 2021 and/or Fall/ Spring, with the possibility of
renewal.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience:

Requires Master’s degree, an equivalent degree,
or equivalent professional experience.

Other Required Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability or aptitude in the areas specific to the courses to be taught.
Demonstrated potential for directing activities specific to the courses to be taught.
Ability and willingness to participate in departmental and University affairs.
Demonstrated leadership in the professional field and community.
Demonstrated professional or scholarly competency with a mix of traditional and leading-edge technologies and methods.

Preferred Qualifications:

Professional license to practice landscape architecture is preferred, but not required.
Experience in teaching at the college level is preferred, but not required.
Also of interest would be post professional degree(s) including a Ph.D.
