Job Description Summary
Green Team Student Assistant will support an interdisciplinary team of teachers and students at their host school in designing and implementing an intervention to an environmental issue in their community. The Student Assistant will facilitate communication between their school's Green Team, the EFS Philly Coordinator and Program Leads, PHENND Sustainability program staff, and external partner organizations, coordinate logistical planning, and collect data to document the project.

Job Description
Responsibilities
  • Approximately 10 hours/wk
  • Work with a team of teachers from host school to oversee collaborative EfS project
  • Communicate classroom needs to Project Coordinator
  • Collect data, report on project outcomes in preparation for summer 2022 symposium
  • Work directly with administrators and teachers to ensure strong communication between and among external partners and key school leadership
  • Provide hands-on support to Green Team teachers
  • Work in collaboration with the EFS Project Coordinator to proof, edit, sort, and post content from students, teachers, others, to initiative website and social media
  • Work directly with students in the role of a ‘near peer'


Preferred Qualifications
  • High School degree and 1-2 years of experience is required
  • Current undergraduate student in teacher education, STEM, and/or environmental science
  • Experience working with high school students
  • Demonstrated interest in sustainability, environmental and/or climate justice
  • Highly organized with an ability to work collaboratively
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills plus familiarity with web technology
  • Willingness and ability to travel to and work on site at Philadelphia schools
