Description
The Windows Server and Azure Administrator will serve as a technical thought leader and SME for the University of Tennessee System Administration (UTSA) cloud ecosystem of partners, customers, and service providers. The position will plan, analyze, design, test, and deploy enterprise-scale Microsoft Azure cloud SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS solutions. The position will also serve as a technical subject matter expert on both cloud and on-premises Windows infrastructure systems, and will apply technical expertise in Microsoft cloud offerings to promote innovative enterprise solutions for the University of Tennessee.    

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and deployment of enterprise-scale Azure solutions.
  • Lead technical discussions with UTSA IT leadership that drive decisions and implementation approaches focused on cloud-based solutions.
  • Design architectures with Microsoft Azure to meet the University’s technical, security, and business needs.
  • Execute on implementation plans to deploy Azure infrastructure and move workloads to Azure.
  • Review and manage technical requirements and business functional requirements to establish new cloud platforms.
  • Architect and design solutions to meet functional and non-functional requirements in the Azure environment.


Qualifications
Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalency (CS, CE, CIS, IS, MIS, or engineering discipline) or equivalent work experience and/or related certifications.
  • Minimum of 5+ years overall IT industry experience.
  • Experience in architecting and designing technical solutions for Microsoft-centric solutions.
  • Knowledge of enterprise infrastructure solutions, including enterprise directories, on-premises hosting platforms, and datacenter storage and networking.
  • Knowledge of cloud system engineering principles and considerations.
  • Experience in cloud architectures, including web, application, and database components.
  • Strong project management experience.
  • Ability to communicate and present complex information both verbally and in written form.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of relevant Microsoft Azure design & delivery experience including using service and hosting solutions such as private/public cloud IaaS, PaaS and SaaS platforms.
  • Extensive, real-world experience designing technology components for enterprise solutions and defining solution architectures and reference architectures with a focus on cloud technologies.
  • Understanding of Azure SQL Database, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Azure DevOps preferred.
  • Experience with Azure Governance and Best Practices (Role Based Access Control, Networking Architectures, Cost Management controls, etc.).
  • Knowledge of cloud security controls including tenant isolation, encryption at rest, encryption in transit, key management, vulnerability assessments, application firewalls, SIEM, etc.
  • Experience with scripting languages (PowerShell / CLI) for deployment and management on Azure.
