Job Description:


POSITION: Part-Time Faculty: Teaching & Learning Faculty Fellow: 6 hours per week; 2021-2022 Academic Year, Position contingent on available funding. The Faculty Fellow will report directly to the Director of Professional Development. This is a one academic year appointment with the potential for renewal.


RESPONSIBILITIES: The Teaching and Learning Faculty Fellow (Adjunct/DCE) will work with the Center for Professional Development to support the professional learning of adjunct faculty. The Faculty Fellow provides leadership and guidance to promote inquiry and the building of knowledge and skills to continually improve the student learning experience.


  • In consultation with division deans, assistant deans, department chairs/program coordinators and groups implementing the Integrated Student Experience (ISE) Strategic Goal, design professional development opportunities that aim to develop the knowledge and skills of adjunct faculty to accomplish the goal's objectives.
  • In collaboration with other departments, support institutional engagement with adjunct faculty.
  • Provide coaching and consultation to faculty on areas such as pedagogy, use of high impact practices, narrowing equity gaps, assignment design, classroom management, creation, and assessment of learning outcomes, and creating a sense of belonging in the classroom.
  • Maintain web, Blackboard and social media resources established for adjunct faculty.
  • Contribute to the monthly CPD newsletter.
  • Actively explore professional development needs of the faculty and serve as a consultant to recommend topics for events and activities.
  • Assist in planning, recruiting, implementing, and evaluating Professional Day, symposia, workshops, and other events.
  • Attend activities as schedule allows.
  • Serve as an ambassador of the Center for Professional Development to the college community.


Requirements:


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Master's Degree.
  • A candidate must currently teach a DCE course and have taught for at least three academic years as an NECC DCE faculty member. One (1) - two (2) years of experience will be considered if the faculty member has had substantial involvement in college activities outside of the classroom (e.g., committee work).
  • Availability to contribute up to 6 hours per week to CPD activities.
  • Have the endorsement of the Dean of the faculty member's division.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with and have established positive relationships with faculty colleagues.
  • Demonstrated expertise in providing coaching and consultation services to colleagues.
  • Demonstrated ability in designing, delivering, and evaluating professional development programming.
  • Experience with high impact practices, curriculum development, assignment design, culturally responsive teaching and learning, and assessment of learning outcomes.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Proficiency with instructional technologies such as Blackboard, Kaltura, Zoom and other tools; with Zoom proficiency as a high priority.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bilingual or Bi-cultural (English/Spanish).
  • Experience working with and supporting a culturally diverse, urban population.
