 Mount Saint Mary College’s Health Services department, a division of Student Affairs, is looking for a Registered Nurse to join our team as a 10 month/year Staff Nurse.  The Staff RN reports directly to the Director of Health Services and indirectly to the Vice President of Students.  The desired candidate is a nurse who is professional; confident in their assessment skills; comfortable working autonomously; skilled in communicating with and caring for college students of all ages, especially adolescents and young adults; willing and able to be a “team-player;” self-motivated; and recognizes the importance of health and wellness education and readily takes advantage of every “teachable moment.”


Primary Duties and Responsibilities


  • Assist in the collection of required immunization records on all students enrolled at the College and review these records for compliance with New York State Public Health Law 2165 and 2167.
  • Provide healthcare for the students within approved clinical guidelines during both regular and physician’s clinic hours.
  • Ensure that all provided healthcare is appropriately documented.
  • Collaborate with the School of Nursing to acquire and maintain required medical records for students in clinical courses.
  • Work with the Director of Athletics and Athletic Trainers to maintain physical examination records on all intercollegiate team members.
  • Be available for health emergencies after hours if necessary.
  • Assist in coordination and delivery of health-related educational programs and workshops, including but not limited to Admissions, Athletic, ResLife, School of Nursing and campus-wide programming.
  • Participate in the implementation of required Federal and State Health regulations (OSHA, CLIA, HIPPA).
  • Assist in the inventory, restocking, and maintenance of health supplies, medication and equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Health Services, the Assistant Director of Health Services, the Vice President for Students, or the President of the College.


  • Graduate of an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program
  • Registered Professional Nurse licensed to practice in New York State (NYS), with current registration and in good standing
  • Minimum of two years of recent professional nursing experience; Experience in School or College Health preferred
  • Current BLS Certification
  • Organization

It's less than a mile from the intersection of the New York State Thruway and Interstate 84, and just a few blocks from entrance to the Newburgh side of the Beacon-Newburgh Bridge. The Mount is also easily accessible by plane, with Stewart Airport just minutes from campus. The Mid-Hudson Valley offers a scope of unparalleled natural beauty in a landscape of mountains, river and forest. Hiking, biking, walking, swimming, mountain climbing, skiing, snowboarding, and our park activities offer so many ways to explore the natural environment.

    Enrollment/Student Body Profile. Our student body is made up of 2,700+ students representing over 16 states and several countries. 1,800 are traditional undergraduate students.

    Academic Programs. The Mount offers 50 undergraduate programs leading to a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree. Our collaboration programs offer you a chance to earn a bachelor's degree, plus an advanced degree with schools like Fordham University, Pace University, and New York Medical College. The college also offers master's degrees in education, business, and nursing.

    Faculty. Students learn from our faculty, the majority of whom hold a Ph.D. or the highest terminal degree in their field. Our Student/Faculty Ratio is 17 students:1 faculty member.
