School of Medicine, Office of Medical Education has an opening for a full-time University Staff (unclassified) Business Services Professional/ODI Professional position.

Nature of Work

This full-time, University Staff (non-classified) position will support initiatives and programs in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion for the Office of Diversity & Inclusion within the School of Medicine (SOM). This position is responsible for high level administrative support for the Office of Diversity & Inclusion that involves and is not limited to managing and coordinating administrative calendars, scheduling meetings, office supply ordering, assisting with travel arrangements, travel reimbursements, assembling and collating documents, and other administrative office needs. This position will also be involved in event planning. The individual in this position will work both independently and in collaboration with faculty and program leadership. Specific priorities and duties of this position may change as the operational structure and administrative needs evolve. In addition, this position will provide cross coverage for other administrative staff positions as needed.

Under the direction of the Director of Diversity & Inclusion, this position will support the facilitation of activities within the Office of Diversity & Inclusion, the Office of Medical Education, and the School of Medicine.  The Office of Diversity & Inclusion oversees the implementation of the School’s Diversity Plan, and this office is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the School’s diversity initiatives and programs. Additionally, this position will be support initiatives that ensure that the SOM adheres to the LCME accrediting standards for diversity and inclusion.

Professional Field

Knowledge and experience in business administration with an emphasis on relationship development, process implementation, and process improvement is highly desirable. The individual in this position will work in a self-directed manner exercising excellent prioritization, communication, and customer service skills. Incumbent must possess ability to successfully manage competing and changing priorities. An individual with solid business and academic administrative skills, a commitment to excellence, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, technical, and evolving environment will thrive in our department.

Diversity Professional

Diversity & Inclusion Programmatic Support and Programming (25%)

  • Lead programmatic initiatives for the Office of Diversity & Inclusion.
  • Support ODI Leadership with diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives that provide consultation and training to CU SOM staff organizations.
    • Advise and provide operational and administrative support for student, resident/fellow faculty, and staff groups such as UCOLORES, MARC, WC4BL, MSPA, APMSA, SNMA, FirstUp, LMSA and others.
    • Collaborate with the Office of Student Life personnel on issues such as recruitment, marketing materials and other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean of Student Life and the Program Director of OMESA
Administrative Support (25%)

  • Coordinate all procurement functions for the Office of Diversity & Inclusion using a Procurement Card, CU Marketplace, and/or Interdepartmental Transfers.
  • Manage all the events and official functions for the Office of Diversity & Inclusion including the Toast to Diversity, Diversity & Inclusion Film Series, SNMA Luncheon, Second Look Day, and others including those on the ODI Yearly Calendar of Events.
  • Provide administrative support for BA/BS MD program.
  • Reconcile travel related expenses for the Associate Dean of Diversity & Inclusion and the Director of Diversity & Inclusion. 
  • Schedule meetings with staff, faculty, & students for the Office of Diversity & Inclusion.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean and/or the Director of Diversity & Inclusion.
  • In conjunction with the Associate Dean, and Director of Diversity & Inclusion, this position will ensure that the Office of Diversity & Inclusion stays within their budget for the specified fiscal year.
  • Ensure compliance with SOM and University policies and procedures.
Service-Learning Coordinator

Student and Community Engagement (30%)

  • Demonstrated experience with community engagement.
  • Create the structures and processes to ensure student-learner readiness for community engagement.
  • Maintain relationships with multiple community organizations, members, and leaders to co-develop service-learning projects.
  • Provide feedback to develop, implement, and refine the process for connecting students with community sites and for on-going monitoring of their progress.
  • Facilitate and track student and/or community partners concerns, needs, or challenges and assist the Service-Learning Director in addressing these issues in a timely manner.
Administrative and Advisory Support (20%)

  • Manage and coordinate the activities of Community Engagement Curriculum Advisory Board (CECAB).
  • Manage and coordinate the activities of the Service-Learning Board (S-LAB).
  • Manage a robust multi-directional assessment strategy (e.g. students evaluate community organizations; community members evaluate students). This should be done in collaboration with the Community Engagement Curriculum Advisory Board (CECAB) and/or S-LAB.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in a related field. 
  • 1 year of experience providing high-level administrative support in an academic environment.
Required: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Knowledge of University of Colorado SOM programs, services, and student populations. 
  • Experience with trainings on diversity and inclusion

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $44,526 to $50,000

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
