Nature of Work

Jobs in this career family provide direct professional support of research activities.  Functions include contracts and grants solicitation and administration, grant/agreement preparation, review and negotiation, regulatory compliance, sponsor communication and post and pre award management, human subject compliance, research animal management, research laboratory coordination and instruction, environmental health and safety, radiation control, hazardous materials use, disposal and training.

Managers are responsible for the day-to-day operation of functional work units, including the Development and implementation of processes consistent with college, school or departmental strategies and processes and the supervision of professional and support staff.

Examples of Work Performed

The Clinical Research Manager is primarily responsible for providing supervision and direction to the clinical coordinator staff, managing regulatory affairs and compliance, and completing assigned administrative operations as needed. The Clinical Research Manager will work across disciplines to develop, support, implement, and evaluate effective regulatory affairs and research strategies in collaboration with the Clinical Research Program Director. They will provide expert regulatory guidance and direction for complex regulatory matters to all members of the research team at the Crnic Institute and ensure compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and regulations. They will also demonstrate the ability to provide strong and consistent direction in planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating clinical coordinators and daily research operations. This position is responsible for duties that include, but are not limited to, the following: maintain the research program to meet all national standards and requirements of accrediting organizations, including good clinical practices, participate in annual program evaluation, support communications activities, serve as a program representative at meetings, and establish and maintain partnerships to advance the Crnic Institute clinical research program.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or the hiring range) for this position has been established at $62,895 - $76,912.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in clinical research, biology, psychology, public health, nursing, health care administration or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
  • 2+ years’ progressive experience working as a clinical coordinator or in a directly related role.
  • Required: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

    PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master’s degree in clinical research, biology, psychology, public health, nursing, health care administration or related field from an accredited institution.
    • 5+ years’ progressive experience working as a clinical coordinator or in a directly related role.
    • Demonstrated experience managing regulatory affairs in a clinical research environment.
    • Demonstrated experience supervising direct reports.
