    Department: Athletics - Strength and Conditioning Reports to: Head Strength and Conditioning Coach

    Location: Main Campus

    Time commitment: 30 hours per week

    Position Summary

    All Strength and Conditioning graduate assistants will report to the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach in all areas. This position is responsible for assisting with the needs of the strength and conditioning department and staff. Programming and developing workouts to improve athletic performance as well as maintaining a clean and organized facility.

    Service

      Represent the University in maintaining a high-quality, safe and clean training facility meant to improve the overall experience for the campus community. Optimizing the space where individuals can engage in physical activity, encouraging lifelong health and fitness habits across the Concordia University Irvine community.

    Roles:

      Provide Strength and Conditioning programming and supervision for teams assigned by the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.Provide nutritional consultation and guidance to inquiring student-athletes.Provide assistance in developing/revising facility administrative policies and procedures, user policies and expectations, maintenance schedules, etc.Conduct measurement throughout athletic program, data collection, analyzation and application of findings.Familiarity with available equipment in order to train student-athletes on proper usage.Conduct movement screens, body composition testing and other physiological testing throughout the year.Oversee the general cleaning of the Fitness Center, inspection and basic maintenance of exercise equipment, and reporting of necessary equipment and/or facility repairs to the head strength and conditioning coach.Opening and/or closing the fitness center for staff, faculty and students utilizing it.Perform other relevant department and University duties as required.
    Qualifications

      Bachelor's Degree RequiredNSCA-CSCS CertificationCurrent First Aid/CPR/AED CertificationProblem solving and decision-making skills.Computer literate with strong written and verbal skills.Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.Must be able to lift and move equipment weighing atleast 45 lbs.Superior ability to coordinate and manage student schedules.Must be able to work independently and as part of a team; an ability to function with minimal supervision.Self-starter, self-disciplined, goal-oriented, and precise.Strong attention to detail.Must be able to handle sensitive and confidential matters with tact and discretion.Former Weightlifting experience and/or Fitness industry background helpful.

    Compensation:

    Full Tuition Waiver within the Master of Coaching and Athletic Administration program. Other programs are available but some out of pocket costs may arise due to the increase unit requirement and duration one needs in the program.
