Job Description Summary:

Provide direct clerical assistance to the Department Coordinator. This includes serving in a capacity of being the “first impression” and “setting the tone” of the Communications Department with all visitors to the office including students, faculty, administrators and community members.

Specific Duties:

Greet visitors warmly and professionally, assist in answering phone calls, monitor and restock office supplies and distribute mail to staff mailboxes. Assist with administrative work as needed including but not limited to maintaining spreadsheets, filing, copying or scanning documents.

Create/design flyers for the department bulletin board. Assist in keeping the front office professional in its appearance and tenor at all times. Assist in running errands on campus as needed. Support the efforts of the Communications Department in general, as needed.

All shifts will be in-person, hybrid (in-person and online) or remote if required by the state or county guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications:

Be a full-time enrolled undergraduate or graduate student with federal work study.

Candidate must be a self-starter, highly-motivated, organized and possess excellent verbal communication skills. Candidate must be helpful, friendly and have a positive disposition. Candidate should have basic computer skills, strong organizational and customer service experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Microsoft Office and Excel.

Employees are eligible for the following benefits:

One hour of Paid Sick Leave for every 30 hours worked, with a maximum accrual of 24 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year and capped at 48 hours.

University of La Verne Defined Contribution Retirement Plan – can contribute employee voluntary contributions, excluding wages derived from federal work study funds.

In accordance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA), employees who work an average of 30 or more hours per week, will be eligible for medical coverage through the University of La Verne.

Covered under the University of La Verne Workers Compensation Insurance.
