Job Summary/Description:Under the Director for Multicultural & Student Activities Programs’ leadership, this position coordinates Fraternity and Sorority Life, Homecoming, and various campus activities.
The Student Programs & Activities Coordinator implements best practices for the individual members and chapters of the Panhellenic Council (PHC), Interfraternity Council (IFC), and Greek Council.
This position facilitates opportunities that foster students’ community engagement, campus involvement, inclusion practices, and identity/leadership development to cultivate a successful university experience and academic persistence.
1. Fraternity & Sorority Life (FSL) Strategic Coordination: Works with the Director to develop resources and directs the planning, implementation, and evaluation of FSL activities for students in social chapters.
-Advising – Provide hands-on, personalized advising to the executive board, chapter leaders, and members of CPC (College Panhellenic Council) and IFC (Interfraternity Council) chapters. Communicate and meet regularly (inter)national and NPC (National Panhellenic Council) and NIC (National Interfraternal Council) headquarters constituents. Coordinate formal/informal council recruitment/intake processes.
-Programming – Manage the planning and execution of FSL community-wide programs further to develop a unified community and support values-based programming.
-Develops opportunities for a pluralistic, multicultural community
2. Homecoming Strategic Coordination:
Works with the Director to coordinate the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Student Homecoming Committee Activities.
-Develops cross-departmental and community connections to coordinate and enhance Hoco activities. This person serves as a resource to students, staff, and advisors involved in Homecoming activities.
-Leads the Student Homecoming Committee to execute Hoco activities
-Present data for inclusion in monthly planning and effectiveness reports to Director; prepare and track budget expenses and income for Homecoming; assist in negotiating and drafting contracts and purchase requests.
3. Student Campus Activities Coordination: Works with the Director to coordinate all logistical phases of programs and activities based on trends and student learning objectives.
-Design, execute and evaluate student-focused activities;(in-person and in virtual formats) including, but not limited to, Rambunctious Week, International Men’s Day, Women’s History Month, S&F Life Xmas Tree Activity, and other cross-departmental student activities collaborations.
-Create meaningful partnerships with other departments and with the San Angelo community to provide students with opportunities and valuable experiences
-Promote student activities using various communication and marketing tools and social media
-Maintain Fraternity & Sorority Social Media accounts and activities calendar
Gather and evaluate data for continuous improvement
4. Contribute to our Culture of Inclusion: Works with the Director to create a positive and productive environment in the MSAP by promoting and enhancing all MSAP initiatives.
-Practice inclusion and collaboration by avoiding biases, listening, sharing, with transparent actions, and providing support to others
-Contribute to all the Multicultural & Student Activities Programs and activities as necessary
-Share information to enhance the Centers’ student resources and services
-Assist in the preparation and distribution of informational materials regarding the MSAP events and schedules
-Assist with Student Assistants as necessary
Support and participate in the Ram Pantry hunger awareness initiatives and activities
-Unite FSL participation with MSAP activities
Communicate in a professional, service-oriented manner with faculty, staff, students, visitors, and others in performing work or coordinating tasks
5. Commit to Professional and Student Growth: Works with the Director to find professional development opportunities to remain up to date on student development and engagement trends.
-Attends training, conferences, professional development seminars, and other meetings as needed
-Maintains current knowledge of industry through readings and technical programs
-Serves in a variety of campus and community committees/meetings that benefit ASU students.
-Participates in the interviewing and selection of office support student staff, trains, supervises, and evaluates student staff as necessary
-Designs and implements various student success workshops and seminars

Bachelors in Education, Student Development or related area
Minimum of two years successful professional or graduate student level experience with student activities planning, programming, advising, or another university program
Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including periodic nights and weekends
Previous experience in developing and implementing programs for student leadership development and involvement
Valid Texas Driver’s License and a driving record acceptable to the University’s insurance company are required.
Masters degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, or Education

Work is performed in various settings, both on-campus and off-campus. The position requires flexible work hours, including evenings and weekends.

History
The institution was founded in 1928 as a community college. By an act of the 58th Session of the Texas Legislature, the institution was designated as Angelo State College in 1965, the year it became a four-year, state-supported institution. The name was changed to Angelo State University in 1969. On Sept. 1, 2007, Angelo State University became a member of the Texas Tech University System.
ASU has a proud history of diversity, accepting Hispanics, who today make up more than 25 percent of the student population, from the very beginning. The institution enrolled African-Americans prior to Brown vs. Board of Education and one student broke the color barrier in Texas Intercollegiate football in 1953.
Academics
Angelo State offers courses through six colleges: Arts and Humanities; Business; Education; Health and Human Services; Science & Engineering; and Graduate Studies. The university is recognized for its strong undergraduate programs overall. For example, ASU's Physics Department has been recognized as one of the top undergraduate programs in the country. The university supports a young and vibrant Honors Program and continues a long tradition, begun in 1948, of encouraging international studies.
The university is also known for incorporating research into many undergraduate offerings. One recent bachelor's degree recipient, for instance, received the McClung Award for the Best Paper published in the BIOS, the official publication of Beta Beta Beta Biology Honor Society. Campus
Angelo State University's campus is situated on 268 acres in the center of San Angelo. The campus is lined with native live oak and pecan trees as well as imported palm trees. In addition to being one of the prettiest campuses in the region, it is one of the safest in Texas. The campus has ultramodern facilities with state-of-the-art technology support. ASU is home to the State of Texas Data Center, one of the state's two such facilities, which provide sophisticated computer processing and disaster recovery services for agencies and universities.
