Columbus State University has openings for Head Tutors in their Empowered Youth of Columbus (EYC) After School Program for at-risk youth within the Department of Continuing and Professional Education (CPE). These are temporary, part-time, grant funded positions with an opportunity to teach for summer camp, and is renewable. The successful candidate will provide academic and arts enrichment, administrative, parent and school day teacher communication, and operational support for EYC and CPE. This position requires a flexible schedule due to evening events and will report to the EYC Program Director. Responsibilities
The selected candidate will coordinate programming for one of the four EYC 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant (CCLC) sites from set-up through student pick-up; work with the leadership team to design homework help and tutoring hours that are active, engaging, and supportive of the goals of the grant; manage a 4-5 person staff of teaching artists and program assistants; be responsible for accurate attendance taking as well as student sign-in and sign-out; encourage other staff to maintain positive behavior management of students; be a positive role model for students; submit weekly lesson plans, attendance reports, and weekly summary reports; assist with the data collection required by the grant such as student and parent information, grades, communication logs; work with Parent and Curriculum Coordinator to establish effective communication with school day teachers and parents; attend a weekly Head Tutor meeting and a monthly professional development training; help facilitate all EYC events; and all other related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree; or any equivalent combination of experience and education. The selected candidate should have some classroom experience with elementary grades; must be able to design and implement a successful homework help and small group tutoring hour for students; must be positive; highly energetic; engage well with children; and possess the ability to work within the somewhat changing and flexible environment of after school programming. The selected candidate must be able to work Monday - Thursday, 2pm - 6pm, and have the flexibility for special events in the evenings. Proposed Salary
