Position Information: DescriptionThe Department of Civil Engineering at the University of North Dakota (UND) is inviting applicants for its 9-month instructor position. The UND Civil Engineering program offers Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) and these graduate degrees:
- Master of Science in Civil Engineering (MS)Master of Engineering (M.Engr)Combined BSCE and MSCombined BSCE and MEngrPh.D. in Civil Engineering
- Instruction in a wide range of civil and environmental engineering undergraduate courses Teaching three courses in the fall and three courses in the Spring, on average, in civil engineering, both on-campus and at-a-distance, potentially including both classroom and laboratory settingsMentoring students in course/career planning and fulfilling graduation requirements;Helping with recruiting activities Communicating effectively in English with students, families, faculty, staff and other professional colleagues in person and at-a-distance (phone, email, etc.)Utilizing computer hardware and software to carry out teaching and service responsibilities to the civil engineering departmentOperating laboratory equipment and instrumentation found in civil engineering laboratoriesParticipating in department, college, university, and professional service activities.
- The successful applicant will have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Effective teaching and pedagogy skills appropriate to the position.
- M.S. degree in civil engineering or a closely related field. Successful completion of criminal history records check.
- Ph.D. degree in civil engineering or a closely related field.College-level teaching experience (graduate teaching experience is acceptable).Industrial experience in civil engineering generally.Licensure as a professional engineer (P.E.) or commitment to obtaining licensure within two years of employment
