Primary Purpose:

The HR Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with management in supporting the HR Office. The HR Generalist carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: employment, benefits, performance management, onboarding, employee relations, policy, safety/wellness, and employment law compliance. Serves as Title IX investigator.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for new hire and termination employment processes, to ensure compliance with gathering associated paperwork timely and handling all associated paperwork/ files.
  • Works extensively within the HRIS system to perform necessary entries and manages all necessary employment changes within the HRIS system.
  • Subject matter expert I-9 Compliance, new hire reporting and e-verify.
  • Assists Director with Performance Evaluation processes;
  • Assists with Training & Development programs/ delivery as needed;
  • Serves as Title IX Investigator and attends required annual training;
  • Processes FMLA, STD, LTD and Worker’s Compensation (maintain logs, provide notices, annual reporting, etc.)
  • Liaison to Benefit Administrator;
  • Compiles various reports and works on special projects as needed.
  • Assists in coordination of wellness programs.
  • Assists with employee relations and investigates issues.
  • Serves as liaison to Payroll office; reviews monthly and bi-weekly payroll register under DHR’s guidance and coordinates with the Payroll Office any updates or change.
  • Liaison to Business Office and Benefits regarding post-retirement premium payments.
  • Reviewing and signing off on monthly benefit vendor billing reconciliations.
  • Keeps departmental procedures up to date.
  • Works as assigned on HR matters requiring high level of confidentiality.
  • Ensures integrity of all files.
  • Back-up for recruitment efforts.
  • Travel to all Stetson campuses as needed.
  • Maintains a collaborative work environment and works well with others.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Required Skills

Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum of five (5) years in a lead HR generalist role. PHR or SPHR, a plus. Higher Ed experience preferred. Knowledge and understanding of multiple human resource disciplines including benefits, leave management, employee relations, employment law, practices, compliance and payroll. Maintains high level of confidentiality and the ability to act with integrity. Must be a self-starter, who works well in a fast-paced HR environment. Ability to focus, meet deadlines, produce high quality work product with organization and attention to detail, good follow-through and error-free required. Excellent interpersonal skills and commitment to HR services are necessary and strong written and oral communication skills are required. Ability to analyze data and report preparation. Positive attitude with great people skills and high level of professionalism is required. Works to build an environment that promotes and facilitates the success of Diversity and Inclusive Excellence. Must be flexible to work outside of regular office hours required. Some travel to other campuses.
