Basic Function
Under administrative direction of a Dean of Instruction, the Director of Energy Workforce Development provides leadership and oversight to develop a broad and robust energy program. This includes coordination and planning with industry and research partners, faculty, and districtwide staff. The Director is expected to build relationships with industry partners and local, state and federal government agencies to identify workforce needs impacted by the transition to clean energy and emerging energy technologies; partner with deans, department chairs and faculty to provide courses, certificates, and degree(s) in response to those needs; collaborate with research partners on innovative energy projects; work with federal agencies to position the college and district as a leader in energy technology transfer and workforce development for the region. The Director will provide leadership and direction with a coalition of public and private partners in developing a growth plan for all aspects of the Energy Technology Transfer and Workforce Development initiative.

Representative Duties
Provide vision and expertise to meet workforce development needs in energy-related sectors within the region.

Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with industry, educational institutions, research laboratories and state and federal agencies.

Assess, develop, and implement strategies and processes to support the growth, development, marketing and administration of the Energy Technology Transfer and Workforce Development initiative.

Market the College and energy programs to the community and local industry. Included may be on-campus presentations to faculty and staff, coordinating planning meetings with academic and industry partners, and engaging in discipline-specific discussions.

Review, assess, and evaluate assigned programs and services; recommend and implement approved plans and policies to facilitate and improve outcomes, operations, and programs within areas of responsibility.

In accordance with grant specifications; prepare, present, and submit compliance reports and documents.

Assist in the development and monitoring of program expenditures, ensuring compliance with grant specifications.

Research and seek additional funding sources; initiate and administer grants as appropriate.

Participate in workshops, meetings, and conferences at the district, local, regional, state, and federal levels as appropriate to the assigned areas of responsibility.

Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate the work performance of assigned personnel.

Perform other related activities and duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited college/university, preferably in an energy, engineering, or science related area of study.

Five years of full-time experience or the equivalent in the administration of educational programs, including demonstrated leadership experience reasonably related to the administrative assignment.

Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and disability backgrounds of community college students and employees.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience collaborating with industry to develop energy programs for educational institutions.

Two years of experience in emerging energy technologies.

Knowledge and Abilities
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Knowledge of relevant State and Federal laws, codes, statutes, and regulations.
Knowledge of Environmental Social Governance (ESG) criteria and impacted
disadvantaged communities.
Knowledge of the mission, procedures, and operations of California Community Colleges.
Knowledge of principles and practices of supervision, training, and evaluation.
Knowledge of principles of public speaking, marketing, communications, or sales.
Knowledge of budgeting, and fiscal reporting.

ABILITY TO:

Ability to interpret complex codes and regulations
Ability to research, present and support alternative strategies for meeting program goals.
Ability to work independently and initiatively while creating new programs and opportunities.
Ability to plan and organize work; prioritize and schedule work; train and provide work directions to others.
Ability to effectively supervise operations of assigned area.
Ability to maintain records, prepare reports and procedural documentation.
Ability to exercise group leadership skills emphasizing collaboration, consensus building, conflict resolution, and problem-solving.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

SALARY RANGE $102,704.39 - 134,757.07 Maximum Entry Level Salary: 107,903.80
