Staff Attorney, Center for Immigration Law and Policy
University of California Los Angeles

Requisition Number: 34111
Salary: $4,600 - $11,183 monthly

Position Description:
The Center for Immigration Law and Policy seeks a Staff Attorney to engage in cutting-edge and high-quality research and analysis related to immigration law and policy. The Staff Attorney will further the Center's mission by conducting legal and multi-disciplinary research on a range of immigration law and related issues, including the racially discriminatory origins of various provisions of the immigration code, the possibility of greater state and local-level control over immigration law, the legality of different possible federal administrative relief programs, and other topics. The Staff Attorney will provide research and writing support to senior scholars at the Center and author their own reports, articles, public comments, and other Center publications. The Staff Attorney will also participate actively in the Center's litigation and policy advocacy projects, including on cases involving Temporary Protected Status, immigration detention, the surveillance of Muslim communities, and others. The Staff Attorney should have the experience necessary to make a significant contribution in determining how some or all of those cases are litigated, and then to implement that vision. The position will be based in Los Angeles, California. Some of the above-described projects will also give the Staff Attorney an opportunity to work with law students, including through the Immigrants' Rights Policy Clinic. The Staff Attorney will not be responsible for teaching these students but will likely work closely with clinical supervisors and student teams.

It was founded in 1919 and is the second oldest of the ten campuses affiliated with the University of California system. UCLA offers over 300 undergraduate and graduate degree programs in a wide range of disciplines and enrolls about 26,000 undergraduate and about 12,000 graduate students from the United States and around the world every year.
