The Center for Clinical Learning at Georgia State University College of Law currently seeks qualified applicants for the position of Administrative Specialist, Managerial.  The Center is a law firm operating within the law school through which students provide legal assistance to low-income clients under the direct supervision of law school faculty, who are licensed attorneys.

Reporting to the Associate Dean for Experiential Education and Clinical Programs, the Administrative Specialist, Managerial will serve as law firm administrator with responsibility for the daily operation of the Center for Clinical Programs and its affiliated clinics.

The scope of responsibilities for this position will include but is not limited to these essential duties:

Administrative Functions

    Administers the Center under federal and state policies, personnel policies, fiscal policies, and other policies and procedures adopted by the University, College, and law clinic directors.Responsible for developing clinic and center budgets; advising faculty and directors regarding financial matters; monitoring expenditures for all firm-related accounts; preparing financial reports for all expenditures; and coordinating contracts for vendors and consultants. Coordinates payment for and reimbursement of Center and faculty expenses utilizing University and College of Law systems and procedures.Hires, supervises, and evaluates administrative professionals and manages student employees; trains staff and students.  Approves departmental personnel actions and reconciles personnel financial data.Responsible for the use of technology and case management systems.Serves as a liaison between the firm and internal and external business services division.Assists with travel arrangements for faculty and other departmental employees. Prepares professional liability insurance documentation and secures premium payments.Ensures firm and its members adhere to all rules of confidentiality, including those required by the Georgia Bar, IRS rules, HIPAA, FERPA and any other applicable laws.Responsible for administrative functions of law firm and law clinic pre-award and post-award processing of grants and other sponsored funding, including budgeting, accounting, and reporting. Develops, improves, and implements guidelines, policies, and procedures for the law firm and its affiliated programs. Collaborates with affiliated faculty on special projects and reports.Responsible for law firm physical facilities and related functions to include vendor management, office space planning, office furniture and equipment, including copy machines, fax machines, postage and other mail equipment. Coordinates with IT and Tech Support and manages technology transitions. Coordinates meeting and event scheduling.Responsible for the planning, execution and administrative aspects of special events and conferences for the law firm and its affiliated clinics and programs. Compiles and distributes promotional materials. Develops content and updates Center and affiliated program web presence and newsletters. Assists with faculty support for faculty members teaching in the in-house clinics.
Law Firm Functions

    Managing active litigation docket files and ensuring they are up to date in electronic and paper case management systems. Conducts conflicts checks;Processing client onboarding from information gathering to inputting forms into electronic case management system with a high degree of accuracy and a focus on guiding the client through the process to gather the information required;Responsible for electronic and hard copy filing systems and recordkeeping.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and five years of administrative experience; or a high school diploma or GED and nine years administrative experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

The university announced in April 2008 that is will begin Division I-AA football in 2010.
