Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Experience in Basic Skills or Transitional Studies Program

  • Skills and Abilities:

  • Willing to administer official tests in a prison setting
  • Willingness to participate in professional development activities.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Good time management skills
  • Ability to work without close supervision.

  • Preferred Requirements

  • Three years successful work experience in Transitional Studies Program.
  • Experience in administration of official High School Equivalency Test.
  • Knowledge of effective counseling skills.
  • Primary Functions of Position

  • Maintains class surveillance of enrollment and attendance trends in all Transitional Studies classes
  • Conducts follow-up studies of students who drop out of programs.
  • Develops High School Equivalency testing schedule and administer official High School Equivalency test.
  • Order testing materials and maintains inventory and security of materials and equipment.
  • Assist in determining candidate’s needs for Testing Accommodations Request Forms who may reflect:(Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Emotional/Mental Health, Physical/Chronic Health Disability and other disabilities)
  • Works closely with all instructors to ensure student retention and increase student enrollment.
  • Designs and implements innovative recruitment and retention tactics.
  • Develops and distributes promotional materials.
  • Establishes linkages with area agencies to identify and recruit prospective students.
  • Provides counseling and encouragement to students.
  • Supervises any personnel hired to specifically recruit potential students.
  • Assists in annual program planning for Transitional Studies.
  • Administers and grades appropriate student assessments as required by NCCCS and SCC such as CASAS and TABE for new, continuing, and returning students.
  • Assists Coordinator of Transitional Studies and other program individuals in the development of grants.
  • Performs any other duties as deemed necessary by the Coordinator of Transitional Studies.

    Excellent references from previous employers must be furnished upon request. Salary is dependent upon qualifications, experience, and labor market. Position is to be filled no later than September 15, 2021.

    A completed Southeastern Community College application form, a resume, and undergraduate and graduate transcripts (unofficial copies of transcripts will be sufficient for the screening process, but official copies must be submitted prior to employment) must be submitted to the college Human Resources Office in order for applicants to be considered for this position.
