The Marcus Institute for Brain Health (MIBH) is an interdisciplinary clinical care and research institute for Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and associated physical and psychological health conditions such as post-traumatic stress, depression, and anxiety. The MIBH is part of the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus (CU AMC) which is the largest academic health center in the Rocky Mountain region and is located in Aurora, Colorado. Aurora is Colorado’s second largest and most diverse city, home to a significant population of refugees.    

The MIBH provides specialized care for people with mild to moderate TBI, with a primary focus on the provision of subspecialty clinical services for military Veterans of pre- and post-911 era, regardless of discharge status, with mild to moderate TBI who have persistent posttraumatic symptoms. The MIBH provides comprehensive interdisciplinary intensive outpatient evaluation and treatment integrating novel medical, and complementary-alternative treatment modalities.

Nature of Work:
The MIBH currently seeks a full-time Integrative Therapist to implement complementary holistic approaches to healing and resiliency for our patient population.  This position will work within the MIBH interdisciplinary team. The primary responsibilities of this position focus on direct patient care, providing a multifaceted approach to complementary and alternative therapies in the areas of mind, body and spirit by incorporating various strategies and interventions in areas such as mind-body, spirituality, and wellness.  

Examples of Work Performed:

  • Identify psychological, emotional, spiritual and behavioral patterns to develop and deliver an inclusive personalized programs.
  • Provide individual and group therapy sessions in areas such as: spirituality assessment and intervention; mind-body (e.g., yoga: restorative, nidra, ying; meditation; tai chi; qi gong; imagery; biofeedback).
  • Incorporate recreational therapies such as adaptive sports and equine-assisted therapy.
  • Encourage lifestyles (e.g. exercise, nutrition) to improve and protect physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary treatment planning sessions. 
  • Documents patient progress in the patient’s medical chart. 
  • Create, function, and consult as a member of the entire interdisciplinary treatment team, integrating goals and interventions to promote optimal patient care that is cohesive and targeted.
  • Assess patient needs and develop therapeutic interventions suitable to individual and group interests, needs, and capacities.
  • Maintains integrative therapy supplies and equipment in an orderly and safe manner.
  • Stay current on integrative therapy research and interventions related to traumatic brain injury and PTS
Salary and Benefits:
The hiring range for this position has been established at $63,622 - $72,000.   

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: 

  • A bachelor’s degree in integrative medicine, or a directly related field from an accredited institution. Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis, but not for the specific experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ facilitating Mindfulness Practice.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience providing complimentary integrative services to individuals in an institutional/healthcare setting.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience as an integrative services practitioner treating patients with mild to moderate TBI and patients with PTS. 
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating and implementing holistic health programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters’ or higher earned degree in Integrative Medicine, mind-body medicine or a related holistic health field with additional certifications required in at least one of these areas: Guided Imagery, Yoga, Meditation/Mindfulness, Reiki, tai chi, qigong, Biofeedback, etc.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience as an integrative services practitioner treating military Service members and/or Veterans.
  • Certification in Mind-Body Medicine and/or Mind Body Stress Reduction (MBSR) Certification in Mind-Body Medicine.
