Description:

The Department of Health Policy and Management at the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine (SPHTM) is recruiting to fill two tenure-track or tenured positions at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. The mission of the Department of Health Policy and Management is to conduct health management and policy research and to prepare a diverse group of future managers and leaders to improve health care delivery, increase access to health care, reduce health disparities, and advance health care policy worldwide.

The Department comprises 13 full-time faculty members from a range of disciplines (management, economics, finance, sociology, organizational theory, and law). Faculty research clusters around several areas including (but not limited to) health insurance, substance use disorder, telehealth, vaccination policy, diabetes care, and managed care in the United States. The Department currently offers several masters programs and a PhD program in policy and management.


Qualifications:

The selection committee will give preference to applicants with an earned doctoral degree in the areas of health policy and management, health services research, economics, sociology, public health, or related fields. The department values strong methodological skills, publication in peer reviewed journals, and teaching experience, as well as experience in multicultural/diverse employee and student settings. The successful candidates will be expected to develop and maintain strong programs of research with extramural funding to cover a portion of the applicant’s salary. Applicants will be evaluated on their achievement to date and potential in the areas of funded research, publication, and teaching. Experience with a variety of teaching methods and/or curricular perspectives is preferred, as is previous experience interacting with communities of color and cultures other than the applicant’s own. Starting salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
