Description
Morning Edition Host/Reporter, WUOT

Regular, Full-time - MR07

Knoxville, Tennessee's NPR station, WUOT-FM, is looking for a morning person to join its national award-winning news department as local host of NPR’s Morning Edition.  This host/producer serves as the friendly morning companion for listeners in East Tennessee’s largest metro area and provides consistently high-quality reporting to a community that values and cherishes public broadcasting and local voices.

In addition to hosting WUOT’s most listened-to program, the host/producer mines the region’s news sources for newscast material and interview/feature fodder; serves as one of the hosts of Dialogue, WUOT’s live, monthly, award-winning public affairs program; and works with WUOT News interns. WUOT provides opportunities to work with other Tennessee public radio stations and file for NPR News.

Knoxville boasts thriving downtown art and culinary scene, including the internationally-known Big Ears and Nief-Norf Festivals and the nationally-known Dogwood Arts Festival.  East Tennessee experiences all four seasons and provides outdoor enthusiasts with a variety of adventures in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the Appalachian Trail, and many, many other local and regional outdoor spaces. Our proximity to Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the Tennessee Valley Authority, the Howard H. Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Y-12 Nuclear Security Complex, and a number of other research facilities provides ample opportunity to report on federal matters that have local and regional impact. The city is also home to SEC sports and enjoys a low cost of living, with no state income tax.
