The Office of Communications and Marketing at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, seeks applications and nominations for the position of Senior Producer. The senior producer is a seasoned video storyteller that creates a wide range of visual content and manages high-profile projects focusing on key areas including recruiting and retaining students, engaging alumni, and promoting the university’s brand and image.

The Office of Communications and Marketing is dedicated to advancing the university’s reputation. Staff members support the institution’s mission and goals, promote its successes and achievements, inform and engage its stakeholders, and ensure the integrity of its brand. We craft audience-focused communications based on data, best-practices, and emerging trends. The division employs more than 50 full-time professionals across several cross-functional teams—Creative, Digital, Marketing, News, Special Events, Video, and WUOT 91.9FM.

Responsibilities

  • Determine creative direction and visual tone for content.
  • Manage all aspects of a video project from initial concept to final delivery
  • Create, plan and execute all facets of high-quality video productions
  • Operate cameras and direct lighting setups in field and studio production
  • Edit audio/video footage
  • Develop and execute visual graphic ideas, motion graphics and animations.
  • Interact with clients to determine project scope, and continues correspondence to project completion
  • Schedule staff, equipment and participants for video productions
  • Monitor and maintain cost control on video budgets
  • Initiate customer/client relationships across campus, from the department level to upper administration.
  • Collaborate with other Communications & Marketing team members on department-wide, strategic initiatives

Required:

  • Advanced knowledge of video production principles
  • Strong videography skills
  • Strong audio production skills
  • Lighting skills
  • Advanced ability to create and utilize graphics and graphics animation
  • Non-linear editing skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Project management skills
  • Ability to direct talent and conduct interviews
  • Ability to estimate cost and stay within a project’s budget
Preferred:

  • Ability to operate various types of video cameras including HDSLR and documentary-style, cinematic cameras including ARRI, RED or Canon Models
  • Adobe Creative Suite software skills, including After Effects and/or DaVinci Resolve
  • AVID Media Composer or Adobe Premiere non-linear editing skills
  • Drone videography skills
Qualifications

Required: High School Diploma and at least 9 years video production experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified; OR,

Associate's Degree and at least 7 years video production experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified; OR,

Bachelor's Degree and at least 5 years video production experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Preferred: Bachelor's Degree and at least 5 years video production experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Salary

The hiring range for this position is Communications & Marketing, Professional 2, Market Range 10. Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience.
