The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Office of Information Technology is searching for an Executive Director for its Systems group. The market range for this position is MR19.

The Executive Director of OIT Systems serves a critical role in the central IT unit for the Knoxville campus. The successful individual will be tasked with leading a department of 3 teams and 40-50 staff that provide data center, server infrastructure, database administration, directory services, cloud productivity suites and a variety of other services for the Knoxville campus and University units in the Knoxville area.  This position is a direct report to the Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Information Officer for the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK).

UTK is a four-year, high research, public institution, that serves as the flagship campus of the University of Tennessee System. Current enrollment is over 30,000 students annually and has annual research expenditures in excess of $300 million dollars. The Office of Information Technology provides central IT services to the campus and other Knoxville-based UT units with a staff of over 200 professionals.

Duties and Responsibilities

    Provide strategic direction and leadership for OIT Systems, a department within the Office of Information Technology. Participate as part of OIT executive leadership team, collaborating with other areas to ensure effective and seamless service delivery to the Knoxville campus entity and other entities of the UT System.  Manage an operating budget of $2-3 million annually


Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    Bachelor’s Degree and nine (9) years of relevant progressively responsible experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. 5 years of management experience with enterprise system and database administration solutions in hybrid, on-premise, and/or cloud environments5 years of experience leading IT projectsA demonstrated record of successful design, deployment, and operations of enterprise system architectureExcellent communication and organization skills
 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    Demonstrated project management skillsExperience working in Higher Education Experience with system development life cycle management Must be well spoken, creative, and energeticAble to work in a team environment
