Due to regulatory requirements, the successful candidate must be a U. S. citizen or legal permanent resident. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

Primary Responsibilities:

    Install and maintain a large site of Linux workstations and on-premises serversAdminister a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7/8 virtual server (KVM) infrastructureConfigure and maintain a configuration management system based on AnsibleWrite scripts (e.g., for log file analysis)Provide end-user technical supportWrite system and end-user support documentationBe available for occasional after-hour and weekend support

Required Qualifications and Skills:

    Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (such as computer science or information technology) or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.One or more years of experience with Linux workstation and server administration, including design, installation, and maintenanceKnowledge of Linux-based operating system concepts such as kernels, file systems, and TCP/IP networkingExperience setting up standard services such as NFS, Samba, Apache httpd, etc.Ability to write and debug one or more of: Bash, Perl, or PythonStrong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to write articulate and exact documentationAbility to work independently and as a member of a team (including coaching and mentoring) and to prioritize assignments with minimal supervision                   
Desired Qualifications and Skills:

    Previous technical support experience in an academic environmentSkills in configuring virtual machine hypervisor technologies (e.g. Linux KVM)Proficiency in maintaining host and network security in a hostile environment, including system monitoring and incident responseExperience with configuration management systems such as Ansible or Puppet.Ability to setup and maintain Microsoft Windows workstations and servers
