Position Description:
UCLA's Alumni Association builds and sustains active engagement with our 500,000+ alumni throughout their lifespan. Under the direction of the Senior Director of Regional Networks, Affinity Networks and Future Bruin Initiatives, the Director of Regional Networks is responsible for planning, organizing and implementing a comprehensive alumni affairs program for UCLA, with outreach domestic and international. This position is focused on building and strengthening community among Alumni globally and connecting former Bruins back to UCLA and to each other. The Director will work independently as the "face" of UCLA in their area and be responsible for leading the efforts to support and strengthen Alumni relations in their regions. This individual will work to strategically identify and assist in the development of new Alumni networks in their region/s, and will work with volunteer leaders to build leadership, enhance outreach, and educate constituents about university priorities. The Director is also responsible for establishing and maintaining strong working relationship with colleagues in Development, Government and Community Relations, Student Affairs, and other key departments to coordinate programming and to reach common goals. This individual will also work with student groups to connect with relevant Alumni groups, strengthening the affinities and commitments of both audiences. In addition, the Director will participate in committees and task forces, and help with strategic planning processes.

UCLA also offers certificate programs, undergraduate degree-credit and continuing education credits for non-full-time students through its UCLA Extension education program.

The 2010 edition of U.S. News & World Report ranked UCLA as the 24th best university in the nation and 32nd best in the world. In the 2007 edition of U.S. News and World Report, UCLA Medical Center was ranked best in the West, as well as one of the top 3 hospitals in the United States alongside Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Johns Hopkins Hospital. In 15 of the 16 medical specialty areas examined, UCLA Medical Center ranked in the top 20.

The campus' location in Los Angeles makes excursions to local museums, theaters, or other entertainment venues relatively quick and easy.
