Youth Engagement and Program Coordinator, Center on Poverty and Inequality - Georgetown University Law Center

The Georgetown Center on Poverty and Inequality (GCPI) works with policy leaders, researchers, practitioners, advocates, and other experts to develop policies and practices to alleviate poverty and inequality and advance racial and gender equity in the United States.

The mission of the Center's Initiative on Gender Justice & Opportunity is to center marginalized girls in research, policy, and practice; to name and address the root causes of race and gender disparities; and to develop solutions that are guided by youths' narratives and voices.

The Youth Engagement & Program Coordinator supports the Initiative's rapidly expanding its project portfolio by contributing to the Initiative's youth engagement, research, and communications activities and cultivating relationships with girls to serve as advisors to the Initiative and the Learning Network. Reporting the Center's Executive Director, the Youth Engagement and Program Coordinator has duties that include but are not limited to:

Youth Outreach and Learning Network
  • Cultivate members of youth advisory committee for the Initiative's main body of work
  • Serve as liaison between Learning Network's leadership team and learning Network Youth Advisory Committee
  • Work with youth advisors to develop content related to Learning Network's mission
  • Lead weekly Learning Network leadership team meetings and monthly Youth Advisory meetings
  • Admit new Learning Network members and engage in efforts to grow membership


Communications
  • Assist in developing and implementing project-related outreach
  • Create and assist in writing and disseminating quarterly newsletters
  • Assist in creating social media posts
  • Maintain the Initiative's distribution lists
  • Liaise with web developers re website content and updates


Research/Events
  • Assist with and/or design research projects related to marginalized girls, under supervision of Executive Director
  • Assist with and/or design events in alignment with Initiative's mission, under supervision of Executive Director
  • Coordinate logistics relating to events


General Administration/Operations
  • Participate in internal team meetings
  • Assist in ensuring smooth operation of the office and its projects
  • Attend external meetings representing Initiative as needed
  • Monitor general email inbox and endadultificationbias.org inbox


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience working on race and gender issues
  • Strong proficiency in WordPress, Canvas, PowerPoint, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube
  • Outstanding project management and organizational skills
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal abilities and a poised, professional demeanor
  • Critical ability to multi-task, prioritize, and execute
  • Ability to appreciate, embrace and advance diversity and have experience working with diverse populations
